I’m here!

When I first climbed about the Boeing 737, I didn’t have high hopes for the flight.  I was the outside seat of 3, with the inner two taken by a young woman and two young children, roughly a year old and maybe 3 or 4 years old.

Uh-oh.

Actually, they turned out to be very well behaved, only being a bit restless and they got off in Philadelphia.

The plane was packed on that leg, but in Philadelphia I was able to move to the window seat so that was cool.  We saw some clouds but for most of the rest of the flight I was able to see what we were flying over so I enjoyed that part.

When I arrived, I went outside and hit a wall of thick hot air – someone told me it was right around 100 degrees and I believe it.  Waiting for the hotel shuttle was not fun.

The shuttle arrived with a very southern gentleman driver, who shook my hand and introduced himself (Henry) and he helped me into the bus.  We went to the other side of the airport and picked up more for the motel and guess who I met then?  Our very own Brian McLeod, his lovely wife Heather and their son.  We also picked up Bill Guthrie and a new IMer, Michael F.

We yakked all the way to the hotel and Henry was still the epitome of the southern gentleman, handing the ladies down the steps out of the bus.  As a lifelong Yankee, I’m not used to this but I sure could adjust!

In the hotel lobby, there was a group of great Warriors already there and I think we had a little mini-event right there at check-in.  Jack Tackett and Don Schenk seemed like the official welcome committee as they greeted everyone who walked in. Sam England was back and forth, doing the last minute things he needed to do to make the weekend go smoothly.

I wanted to eat before my TMN show at 5 pm but the kitchen didn’t open until 5 so I ate between guests… lol.  Those who made the show got to see a bunch of great people.  We had Mike Carraway, E. Brian Rose, Bryan Zimmerman, Jack Tackett, Brian McLeod and a bunch of other people saying hi.

A bunch of us pretty much took over the hotel bar and chatted and got to know each other all evening – there were still plenty there when I headed off to bed a midnight.  JD, Tracy Needham, Steve Odette… oh, and so many more that my caffeine-deprived brain isn’t thinking of…

Just the one night and I already feel what I’ve spent to get to this event is well worth it.  It’s so awesome to finally meet people that I’ve bought from, sold to and interacted with through the internet.

Start saving now, if needed, and be here next time – it’s incredible!
